Official Statement from Join UP! Baltic
Concerning Travel Affected by the Situation in the Middle East Region
Due to the escalation of the military situation in the Middle East and the partial closure of airspace in the region, temporary disruptions may affect certain flight routes.
Confirmed flight cancellations apply to departures from the Baltics to United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka scheduled from 28 February until 3 March 15:00 (UAE time) / 13:00 (Latvia time).
Each affected booking will be contacted individually by Join UP! Baltic reservations department with detailed information regarding available options and further guidance.
Join UP! Baltic remains in constant contact with all tourists currently staying in the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Zanzibar. Together with our partners, we have arranged accommodation, meals and necessary on-site support where required.
For travelers currently at the destinations:
- Travelers in Zanzibar and Sri Lanka – we are actively working to secure alternative return routes in cooperation with airlines and local partners.
- Travelers in United Arab Emirates and elsewhere in the region are advised to remain vigilant, closely follow official news and communications from diplomatic missions, and comply with all safety instructions issued by local authorities. Evacuation by land remains highly risky and uncertain. In addition, most flights from Oman are currently cancelled and therefore do not constitute a viable alternative at this time.
Our local representatives are ready to provide assistance at the destination. For online support, Pocket Guides are available daily from 09:00 to 21:00.
Travel Registration Recommendations from the Baltic Ministries of Foreign Affairs
Citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are highly advised to register their stay abroad through the official travel registration platform of their respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to facilitate communication and enable consular assistance:
We continue to closely monitor official communications and will provide updates through our official channels as necessary.
Information Regarding Travel to Egypt
Travel to Egypt remains stable and fully operational. The current airspace restrictions affecting parts of the Middle East do not impact flights to Egyptian destinations. Egypt is not directly involved in the current regional escalation, and key tourist areas such as Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh continue to operate under normal conditions. In line with Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance, the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula remains subject to a strong travel advisory.
If any travel changes or restrictions arise due to the situation in the Middle East, we will share updates through Join UP! communication channels.
